Hakkenden: Legend of the Dog Warriors DVD Set (Hyb)
Bee Thao - May 2 2002 cutie_honies@yahoo.com Rating: "Okay." It's an epic. An Epic for anybody who loves Japanese culture and bushido. The artwork is great at times, but certain episodes are poorly drawn, such that some of the characters are barely distinguishable from each other at times. This only occurs in the middle episodes, which provide filler stories. The wonderful artwork and animation pick back up for the unexpected finale. Handel S. Williams - May 14 2002 Prodigal22@aol.com Rating: Wonderful! great story I'm sure that most of you will agree that buying anime is like playing Russian Roulette. With a few exceptions, (DBZ, Tenchi, etc.) I never buy an anime unless I have heard good things about it. Hakkenden was an exception. I was in a store and I saw it. 7 hours, $50; sounds good, but is it a good anime, or 7 hours of crap? IT's NOT CRAP, this show is cool. Same setting (feudal Japan), but less action than Ninja Scroll, this is like a REALLY long movie (even with the opening and closing credits for each episode). But it's a movie with action, drama and sadness that was really well written. You may have a little bit of trouble with the symbolism, but this series keeps you wanting more. This one should not be missed. |
