Ah! My Goddess the Motion Picture DVD (Hyb)

This recent installment to the AIC (American) Archives is another wonderfully animated offering. The animation is slightly similar to Tenchi Muyo in Love 2, however, the simalarities aren't that noticeable. This storyline is a wonderful follow-up to the five part OAV series and brings even more beautiful characters to the screen. I would recommend having a background in Ah! Megami-sama before watching the movie whether it be in the manga or the OAV. The extra section of the Adventures of the Mini-Goddess are truly entertaining as well and a wonderfully lighthearted episode. One of the best anime films I've ever seen! I can only think of one word to describe this film: BEAUTIFUL! You have a wonderful story with wonderful characters and great animation! The voice actors in the dubbed version were all very good also. And the main villain, Celestine(sp?), is definitely high on my list of best anime villains, which includes Zagato, Nova, Rezo, Valgarv and many others I'm probably forgetting. I highly recommend this film even if you're not an Ah! My Goddess fan, though I recommend you have some experience with AMG before viewing this film. stacie s - Mar 8 2002 Rating: Wonderful! worth the money! the ah my goddess movie is excellent! a brief knowledge of the characters (through the anime or manga) is an asset but definately not a must for enjoying this anime movie. the characters are excellent, the animation is excellent, the music is excellent, the plot is excellent, the extras are excellent. nothing about this movie is bad. the ending is beautiful. plus, not only do you receive a holographic slip cover for the dvd but you also get a glimpse of adventures of mini goddess (very very cute show btw) and you get a free mini pencil board! the mini pencil board is double sided with a different picture on each side, and it is very lovely. overall, i'd definately recommend this title to anyone and i feel it is worth the money paid to purchase it (and then some). A must have for Goddess Fans I was floored by the briliant animation and story. We get to see a vunerable side of both Keiichi and Belldandy. Through that vunerability they become closer, and their love grows stronger. Even Urd and Skuld reveal their loyalty and love to defend them. Such a movie is really touching, and worthy of being part of your colection. With great voice acting from both sides of the Pacific, animation to die for, and a great love story to boot. This movie has absolutely stunning visuals, the animation has to be the most beautiful I have yet seen! The characters all look great! The voices are excellent both subbed and dubbed and the story is beautiful and touching, but also has exciting battle scenes and humorous moments. People who aren't familiar with Oh My Goddess may have trouble understanding the characters' motivations, but it shouldn't be to bad. The soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, it draws you in and is so amazingly powerful! I loved every single aspect of this movie, and would recommend it to any anime fan. Especiall OMG fans, if you like Oh My Goddess you MUST get this movie! It is a bit on the long side but it is completely enjoyable from start to finish and I don't regret one second of watching!! I guess that's a pretty bold statement, coming from a guy who's seen Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, Princess Mononoke,ect. But no anime has had me this much submerged as Ah! My Goddess. The movie has this little way of taking everything in your life and improving the quality of it ten-fold. Every thing in the movie is pure perfection. Hearing David Lucas (the American voice of Spike Spiegal) as Celestine is truly awesome, and listening to Nobou Uematsu's (composer of the Final Fantasy music as well) melodies are simply awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping stuff. (The Urd summoning lightening music is great!)The perfect anime cuddling movie to watch with your girlfriend/boyfriend... you do have one, right? Props to Miyazaki...Spirited Away, you deserve 50 oscars..but one works. -The Irresponsible Captain Tylor Kid Oh yeah...cool awesome people at Right Stuf..send me the Oh! My Goddess OVA, please? I've been an ardent fan of the AMG series ever since I picked up the first volume of the manga and this movie is the greatest gift to us fans.
