Crazy, wacky fun.
Imagine, if you can FLCL on acid. Talk about over the top, that was my impression of this excursion in insanity. This 13 part series parodies every genre of anime out there and it's self in the process. I've seen the whole series and the insanity never lets up, not even for a second. But then, what do you expect from Gainex? Get it and die laughing.

Quite insane, yet good quality...
This version has 4 episodes, but the first one is largely expositional. (Don't get too worked up if you don't laugh at the first episode; it just introduces the characters.)

I've only seen volumes one and two so far, and I must say that my favorite episodes are all in this volume. The DVD also has a fair amount of "polish" to it; even the FBI warning at the beginning is kinda silly (and I think there's more than one version). Most of the extra features are ho-hum, but the "pop-up" option is actually quite good. It helps you to understand some of the linguistic jokes (which usually make no sense in English), and for you to understand some of the parodies that you might not get. It also explains cultural differences that you might not get, like how certain people are talking in Japanese or what that marble stopper is in the soda.

This series is rated M-17, but aside from some brief nudity this could probably pass for PG-13. It's just too silly to be overtly sexual and what little violence exists is cartoony.

Episode 2 largely parodies RPGs (and introduces Mune-Mune and the object of her affections). Episode 3 makes fun of Sci-Fi. Episode 4 makes fun of martial arts movies and anime. Episode 4 is probably my favorite.

funny, although there is the stupid pantie scene
This is one of those anime's that seems perfect, but is simply good. no more... i haven't taken liking to the problem scheme of things where the main characters encounter their stupid troubles. their situations are the best thing about abenobashi but when it gets to the half way point of an episode, the way they solve their problems is just too hurrendous for me.
