Yoko Ishida: Sweets CD Soundtrack

An artist with a beautiful voice combined with a fantastic album equals me not being able to help having to sing along with some amazing songs! - and you'll have to pay attention if you want to, for the tracks are Japanese! But that's okay, because the romanized lyrics are included in the booklet along with the translations! YEAH!!! (Romanized means, for the uninformed, that the letters have been put into the English alphabet instead of left in their original Japanese kana.) Track 1, SPRING FIELD, sucked me in with its easy, enjoyable rhythm and the almost tangible joy I could hear in Ishida Yoko's voice. That's the best thing about her, IMO. You can hear in her voice whatever emotion the song calls for you to feel. Very pop, this song is one I can never bypass. Track 2, BELIEVING, actually took several listens before I liked it, but now it's one of my favorites. I love listening the range of her voice in this song, and I love to turn the bass up to get that heavy beat. I just think something vital would be missing from BELIEVING without it. Track 3, WHITE DESTINY, is the opening song for the anime PRETEAR. Both the song and show are at the top of my favorites list. Though a tough song to sing along with because it's so fast, I like to give it my best shot because it's also very compelling, somewhat sad, but leaves me with a sense of power or determination that's - not to sound overly corny - very uplifting. I'll leave the rest of the album a mystery so you all go buy it, but I will say the fourth and eleventh tracks are my favorites after WHITE DESTINY. Also on this album are the opening songs to AI YORI AOSHI, A LITTLE SNOW FAIRY SUGAR, and GUNPARADE MARCH-Spirit of SAMURAI-, and the ending theme to YUCIE. Plus several non-anime related tunes to round out the album, and give the listener a better sense of Ishida-san's style. Caroline J. Klawender - Jul 24 2004 Rating: Wonderful! A great buy! ^_^ Yoko Ishida has sung many anime songs before, including 3 from the 2nd Season of Pretty Solider Sailor Moon seires, Sailor Moon R. ^_^ All the songs are wonderful, one of my favorites being "Proof of Life", a song deciated to Yoko-san's friend who, sadly, died of cancer. If you like J-pop and anime songs, then this c.d. is for you! There's even a bonus track on it: Yoko-san sings the Snow Fairy called Sugar theme song in *ENGLISH*! ^_^ Very nicely done! ^_^ Tinna E.
