A must for any fan of romantic stories This is a great romantic story. The first season was very good, but the second season has so many plot twists that it is too good not to pass up. Classic Anime Comedy Ranma 1/2 is truly one of the great anime comedies that stands the test of time. I recently started watching Season 1 again and I have to say that this series has aged really well. Ranma and Akane are great leads. It's fun to watch their love/hate relationship. Overall, a great start to the series introducing the cast of p-chan/Ryoga, Shampooo/Moose and many others. If you love comedies like School Rumble, you'll love watching Ranma 1/2. Devil May Cry DVD 1 (Hyb): Level 1 Hin L. Wong - Nov 29 2008 Rating: Wonderful! High Production, Fast paced action I've been a fan of the Devil May Cry video games since their incarnation on the PS2. Needless to say, I was excited to hear Dante was coming to the anime screen. Dante isn't nearly as cocky as he is in the video games but I'm glad they went this route because the English dub performance from Justin Cause turned out excellent. A plus is the quality of the animation which is pretty top notch. A great watch for fans of the game. Case Closed Movie Double Feature DVD (Hyb) (Skyscraper/Target) Kitty R. Miyazaki - Nov 29 2008 angelneko22@yahoo.com Rating: Wonderful! Excellent! Action-packed and suspenseful. I really enjoyed both of these movies. The first one, The Timed Bomb Skyscraper was so suspenseful at the end I was on the edge of my seat even though the outcome was kinda obvious it was still fascinating to watch. The second movie I also really loved because it was like an interesting fast-paced puzzle. I love Conan and Rachel and really want to know when the third movie is going to be dubbed because I can't stand their japanese voices. Of the 3 seasons this is probally the weakest-but it's still way better than most of the other medival themed fantasy series out there. Howl's Moving Castle DVD (Hyb) Mariela Martelli - Dec 1 2008 jesphoenix05@ca.rr.com Rating: Wonderful! Beauty and the Beast reimagined! This is by far my favorite of the Miyazaki films! The theme of the Beauty redeeming the Beast thru true love that goes beyond the physical is my fovorite theme. I loved so much how Miyazaki's art gave life to the concept of this tale where both the characters are beauty and both are the beast in a way. The voice cast is absolutely awesome! Christian Bale doing his Batman voice for Howl is enough to sweep any girl (not just sophie) of their feet! This is an absolute must addition to your Miyazaki collection! I forgot to add in my review above that in my opinion I recommend you watch this in Japanese with English Subtitles because the Japanese Voice Actors capture that snooty upper class attitude of the Nobles (who make up 2/3 of the cast of characters). For some reason the English Voice Actors make no attempt to sound like snooty upper class nobles (not their fault of course since it is the English Director here in the U.S. who decided it would be that way) and PLUS the English Subtitles are big and easy to read for a change. Oh yes, not only is there a second season to this series but I just finished watching the THIRD season and they left it wide open for a fourth season. If you like season one then you will really like the next two seasons worth. Darker Than Black DVD 1 (Hyb) + Artbox Otaku Review.net - Dec 3 2008 otakureview@gmail.com Rating: Pretty good! A Rough Opening But Solid to the End Despite its very slow start, Darker Than Black finds its footing quickly and takes the audience on a very intense thrill for the first five episodes. Audience members who are willing to sit through a lot of dialogue and set up in order to get their explosions and fight scenes are going to find a great drama here. The psychological mind games that the characters play with each other is creating a suspenseful series that I’m curious to see more of. Recommended. |
