Tenchi Muyo Ryo Ohki DVD 1 (Hyb): Here Comes the Bride
Carl Ogan - Jul 8 2005 OgieDoggie@aol.com Rating: Wonderful! Wow - a real sequel to the Original OVA - Tenchi is back! When they came out with TENCHI GXP I thought this great series was headed for the dumpster, but they must have learned their lesson and have once again given us not only a REAL Tenchi Muyo Series, but one that is an actual sequel to the Orignal Tenchi Muyo OVA (my all time favorite!!)- In the first eposide they even do flash backs to the Original OVA, it's just so GREAT!!! Not only is the old gang back but we find out alot more about the Royal Family and things really start to get complex in a hurry. This first DVD leaves you climbing the walls just waiting for the next one (I can't wait - I must have more NOW !!!). For the true Techi Muyo fan this is a MUST SEE !!! Yes,Yes,Yes !!! Sean-Casey King - Jul 14 2005 Rating: Pretty good! Not what I was expecting, but OK I believe Tenchi Muyo is the best anime series in existence. That being said, you can imagine how sad I am that Petrea Burchard (sp?) did not return to voice Ryoko in the English Dub version. Somehow this changed my whole viewing experience. Especially when the new actress went back and re-voiced the flashbacks that have become ingrained in my memory. There are reviews floating around that say "you can't even tell", but they must have been written by people who aren't hard-core Tenchi fans, haven't taken the series that seriously, or haven't been watching since it's inception over 10 years ago. From the sound of the voice, it sounds like the new Ryoko is the same actress who played Nanami on El-Hazard (I haven't checked close enough to make sure). She does all right, but it's just not the same. From a story point of view, it contains some weirdness (kinda like Tenchi Forever), but hey, at least it's a Tenchi OAV, definitely worth watching. It's got tons of new jurai-lore for all of you hard-core fans. Buy it and add it to your "Later and Weirder, but Still Tenchi" collection. Bobby R. Robles jr - Jul 17 2005 biojoer@sbcglobal.net Rating: Pretty good! Hmmmmmmmmmmm i must say i have been a tenchi fan since i first watched it 6 years ago and i really love ryokos voice. but the new ova does not have ryokos voice and for some reason it might be me but tenchi sounds diffrent oh well .with that a side i must say good stuff miss the old voices but hey time moves on right. well i cant wait to see what happens next. a good dvd to have in your collection of tenchi stuff. Ron Legan - Aug 12 2005 legan5@aol.com Rating: Wonderful! Very enjoyable I was looking forward to the new series and though some of the voices were changed, I enjoyed the first volume. Although Ryoko had a different voice, she caught the spirit of the character in my opinion. I also felt that the voices from GXP helped to bridge the differences between the Tenchi OVA and GXP making a good transition. I am waiting (impatiently at that) for the next volume. AARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! ROY SANDOW - Dec 8 2005 ROYSCARTOON@YAHOO.COM Rating: Wonderful! THEY'RE BAAAAAACK!!!!!! I WAS WONDERING WHEN A SEQUAL BE MADE TO THE OVS's. AND, LO & BEHOLD, IT'S HERE. WITH AN INSIDE SCOOP OF THE GOINGS ON WITH THE ROYAL FAMILY, THIS SERIES IS SURE TO ENTERTAIN ANY HARD CORE "TENCHI MUYO" FAN. NOW; WHERE IS THE NEXT ONE? |
