Highschool of the Dead DVD Complete Collection (Hyb)
James Meade - May 19 2011
You got brains in my anime!
What can I say? It's Romaro's "Dawn of the Dead", served up anime-style! It's fun, gory, violent and thought-provoking. It's a non-stop thrill-ride with several memorable characters, as the lines between sanity and madness blur in the face of overwhelming odds and the realization that the once boring, peaceful world they once found comfort in will never return.
And that's just the story! Equally amazing is the quality of animation which gives the series the same awe-inspiring feel similar to what "The Matrix" did for live action cinema back in the 90s. The animators even poke fun at several well-established anime clichés, like breast jiggle, and push it to the next level. Bullet time was never this bouncy!
And you can rest assured that there will be plenty of fan service, though much of it may be coated in blood.
H.O.T.D is definitely a must buy title, especially if you enjoy tongue in cheek style horror, like "The Evil Dead" series (and just about every other Bruce Campbell / Sam Raimi horror flick under the sun). It's anime-camp at it's finest!

Descibing the Characters. Not really a Spoiler & hoping for a Season 2!
I was hesitant to buy this due to some of the reviews I saw about it on other websites. Even though MOST reviews about it are POSITIVE, you always have those few who don't like it for different reasons.
In a world where you can't trust anyone, stay with your friends you made in high school.
This is a must have for any anime collection. The characters are great, the story is realistic. The way the characters (main & otherwise) act are extremely realistic. This show has something for everyone in the main cast alone. You've got the Otaku Gun Nut with the "Dr. Jekel (can't spell his name)/Rambo" split personality (a must have for any zombie outbreak), the Genius, the Kendo expert, the hapless couple & the clueless but always funny character. Also, another character that I won't say. Basically, it's Left 4 Dead...HIGH SCHOOL VERSION!!
Like the other review said, it's funny at times. I like how everyone can be funny even during all the horror & flesh-eating. I mean, you won't last long in a zombie outbreak if you're too wound up. This show is proof of that. You can't be too stressed, you must have fun & relax from time to time...or you & everyone around you will die. Hope you enjoyed this season as much as I did. Let's all hope for a season 2 because the final episode leaves the door open for a season 2 but still no confirmed date as of July 26th, 2011.

Best Zombie Story since Shaun of the Dead
With a warning now, this cartoon has lots of fan service. Amazingly enough some of it is actually tasteful, if that is possible. This series explores the beginning of a zombie outbreak and goes into a little detail about how the survivors cope. The story focuses on a group of highschool students who excape their zombie filled school, learn a little something about the zombies, and their search for family members and shelter during the apparent apocalypse. Saying this series is excellent does not really do it justice. This is a must buy either dvd or blue ray, either way the picture is clear and amazing.
