Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi DVD 1 (Hyb): Fate + Artbox + Figure (Limited)
James D. Walker - Feb 24 2004 SirLantis@tokyo.com Rating: Wonderful! This is a fantastic series. A must see for comedy romance! Boy gets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl, and will the boy lose the girl again? Thisis a fantastic story that is spun from these elements. It is a must see!! C B. O - Aug 21 2004 OgieDoggie@aol.com Rating: Not all that good. Nothing has changed in 2 Years !!! One of the biggest problems in Japanese Amime is in making good sequels. My example is look at the last 2 sequels to Love Hina and you will see what I mean. In a sequel the characters need to move forward in their lives and their relationships. Well none of this happens in this sequel either!! It has been two years since we last saw Aoi and Kaoru - Kaoru is now a senior in college and Aoi and Kaoru are still not allowed to touch each other in public or in the house (and they only sleep together once a year - no wonder there's such a low birth rate in Japan!). The theme of this series is suppose to be "Looking Ahead" but no one is!! If you were hoping that we would see things move ahead forget it, it doesn't happen in this new series - really too bad because I really enjoyed the orginal series. Aryx Takahashi - Aug 2 2007 Rating: Not all that good. Looking for myself... Or so the ending song says. Maybe the directors of this sequel should have taken the song's advice. This was by far one of the most dissapointing follow-ups to a series I've seen. What happened to the love? The tear-jerking scenes between Kaoru and Aoi? For starters, the sequel seemed just plain rushed. TOO rushed. And ultimately left the viewer asking "What just happened?" Throw in large amounts of awkwardly placed comedy, flawed character design and a new accent for the once lovable Tina (in Japanese). Did anyone notice except me? >_> Anyhow, I could have even forgiven the fact that NONE of the characters developed any and ultimately remained in the same position they started in- so long as the cheesy and sporadic comic attempts were removed. In the end, they only helped make Aoi and Kaoru's relationship seem more like they were college roomates than the forbidden, lovable and mushy couple they portrayed in the original series. Stick to the original. Trust me. You won't miss anything special with Enishi. |
