Persona 4 DVD Collection 1 (Hyb)

It was really good, can't wait for more!
I haven't played Persona 4 yet (waiting for the Vita release) so this review is just the anime in of itself, without the backing from the game.
This was a really good anime! You got a good introduction to the characters, and the story really got me hooked.
There were some points that got a little confusing, but playing the previous game (Persona 3) I knew the cycle the series likes to go in. A few scenes did shock me, but then again it's a part of the Persona series; they are going to make your head spin sometimes.
It was nice to get the DVD version, that way I could listen to it in Japanese or English. Plus having the extras was nice too.
If your a Persona fan, this is a good buy. It's a good buy even if you don't know anything of the series. It was definitely better than Persona -Trinity Soul-
I really can't wait for the second half of the series to get localized! Now I'll have a little better understand when I pick up the game!

Best anime of 2012!
Has everything in it, I mean it's awesome! The animation looks beautiful as always. Definitely better than Persona Trinity Soul. Currently waiting for Persona 4 Golden on PS Vita. The second half coming out in January.

A must-buy for fans of the PS2 game!
This was one of the best anime shows I've watched all year. If you've played Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 on the PS2 (or more recently, Persona 4 Golden on the Vita handheld), then you'll be pleased at how smoothly the action, suspense and humor of the source material was adapted for the anime.
For the DVD release, there's the option to switch between Japanese audio w/ English subtitles, and the English audio dub w/ minimal subtitle translations (for signposts, book titles, etc.). The video quality is very good with an HD display and Blu-ray/PS3 setup, so if you have that and want to watch the show with its original voice cast, the DVD sets would be a better value than the Blu-rays.
Then there's the other incentive for buying the DVDs - the commentary tracks. They include many of the people who were involved in the making of Persona 4: The Animation, with guest appearances by the voice talent, and features their insights on the show, the game it's based on, and a light-hearted atmosphere overall. They go off on quite a few humorous, but Japan-centric tangents; the more obscure ones come with a brief note at the top of the screen. And the best part? There's a commentary for EACH EPISODE!
If you've read this far, then you've probably made up your mind about buying this DVD set. The series wraps up with Volume 2, out in January '13; I've already preorded it myself.
