Excellent
I still have not recieved my copy yet but I owned the Geneon dvd's. I don't usually rebuy series but I made an exception for this. I got this because I am curious about the uncut english dub and the amazing extras are a great bonus, i.e. the beautiful packaging and art book but no matter how much the dub may or may not suck is not revelent as you still have the original Japanese verison to listen to if that's your thing. I for one am actually glad it was originally just Japanese because it was my intro to reading subtitles and I learned to read faster. As an adult, I still love and cherish this anime. I will totally preorder the movies when they become available. I am so excited to get this and love the idea of this so much, I almost wished I paid for fast shipping as it's taking longer then usual to get here according to the tracking number. One thing I wish was here was a digital copy like the disney animated movies because I would totally watch this on a plane trip.

Well done!!
i received my copy of this set on Saturday and i've watched two discs worth of episodes so far. The episodes look fantastic, and the subtitles are very well done. i can't say if the new English dub is better/worse than what came before; my intro to this series was through fan-sub episodes, and these do hold up to those so i consider it a win.

As an aside, another Large Online Retailer is finally selling this set as well... at about $3 below MSRP. Right Stuf clearly has the best price!

Fun Re-Visit, Poor English Voice Acting
I remember rushing to get my homework done just to catch this show when it was shown on TV. The loveable characters, exciting plot, adorable outfits, and beautiful art was just some of what got me started on Cardcaptor Sakura as a child. I even got a really cool Clow Card Book replica from a friend for a birthday, learned rollerblading just to be like Sakura, and even learned to twirl a baton. To say I liked the show was an understatement.

I was beyond excited to hear a Premium Edition was being formulated.

As a member of another anime-based website, Crunchyroll, I had the privilege of recently getting to hear some of the new English Dubbed episodes of this series.

To sum up my experience in one word: Disappointing.

Don't get me wrong - this was such a treat to be able to return to a childhood favorite but I'm very happy I passed on this collection recently. This was a series that I liked both the dub and sub for and now I'd have to say I'd only bother with the sub. Classically, sub is just the way to go - taught me Japanese and made the feel more official. However, being as I'm often busy, it's nice to have the English dubs on my DVDs so I can multitask easier. With a boastful sub/dub premium release, I was looking forward to the whole package but after experiencing a few of the newly voiced dub, I'm not going to hand over a few hundred for what I've heard. I don't feel the company that did the English dub deserves it.

I'm not saying this to be cruel to a company that has helped revive an old favorite but as a long-time running watcher of sub/dub anime, I feel this is worse than sub-par as far as voice acting goes.

You know how you cringe and a shiver goes up your spine when someone scratches a chalk board?

Well, take the voice acting equivalent of this and add it to your favorite show of all time and prepare for the devastating level of disappointment that follows. It's childhood and soul-crushing. Between Kero (Cerberus) and Sakura, I've felt like the voice acting has been a car wreak. While Sakura's voice sounds more appropriate for her age, the voice actress honestly sounds like she's trying too hard. Rather than a naturally occurring child-like voice some naturally posses, it is as if the adult is baby-talking in tone. Kero has a persistant nasal like quality to his voice that is equally annoying.

Tomoyo was the first one that didn't annoy me and felt a little closer to what I was used to. Yet, it's not enough to redeem the newly dubbed attempt for me.

I've since stopped looking at the new dub version and had to step away from watching further.

While my review has focused on the new dub version, it is by no means an entire focused review on the amazing series that CLAMP weaved into the hearts of many and their talent has always helped to be a redeeming quality.

For those of you who only want and will watch the subtitled version, this series will likely find a special place in your growing collections and hearts!

Great show, BAD dub!
Ok, first off, let me say this has nothing to do with rightstuff at all. This review is strictly the show itself. The packaging and hard product itself is awsome.

Loved this show as a kid. Saw both the subbed versions and the english funi dub back in the day known as card captors. That show was BADLY butchered to make it more kiddy friendly. So when i heard NIS was re-releasing this show with a new dub uncut and uneditied, i was very excited to say the least. And for almost $200, i figured i was getting a top notch re-do, much like what is happening with the sailormoon redo for bluray.

Let me make this clear tho. While the vidoe quality is quite nice for bluray, the dub they used is horrible. Well, not all of it. The voices for the females in the show while not perfect are atleast acceptable. But the male voices in this dub are really deep and just dont match the characters at all. I read this was just a rip dubbed from a canada studio that showed the "uncut" version on tv up there. But honestly, they should have tried some different people, all the guy vioces are just too deep.

And while it is uncut and uneditied, there are parts that were never dubbed even in canada. So what u get is just music and subtitles at certain parts such as the "return card" episode when they are in the tree and he says how he likes yukito as well. It wasnt dubbed, so while leaving it in there, they just left the music and subbed what he said.

The other annoying part of the dub is that 85% of the time, its off by a fraction of a second. Which doesnt seem like much, but when u watch thier mouths move and then a second later here the voice, it kinda gets annoying. IDK if this is a factory error or maybe if they just couldnt fill the whole speaking parts so they condinsed the lines to try to make them fit.

Honestly, i think this should at most have been $100 bluray set. The dub is horrible, the lines are off, its not completly unedited despite what it says. For $200, they shoudl have just done a re-dub and released it in sets like they are doing for sailormoon. I think alot more poeple would have liked it.

but this is just my opnion. I have been watching anime since i was 14 and i am 37 now and still love it. So take that for what it is.
