Mmm, girls with submachine guns...
First off, I just want to say how happy I was with rightstuf when I got this in the mail today. I bought it off a bundle deal for seventy bucks, including the second set, which was about fifteen dollars cheaper than buying the two separately. Although the sets don't come out for another week, I got them today. So, I was happy with the service.

I've only seen the first four episodes so far, but I love what I saw. Corpse Princess is Boogiepop Phantom meets Gunslinger Girl. The action is fast, gory without being gratuitous, and the music is amazing. The animation itself is high quality with bright, clean colors. The characters themselves aren't too fleshed out, but this is only for the beginning episodes, but the main female character is definitely three dimensional. There are an abundance of characters, but their designs make it easy for you to tell them apart.

When I first saw a trailer for this anime, I was worried that it would be all hack and slash with a mind-numbing plot, but the action is interesting and there are several plots going on at once, without them becoming tangled and confusing. There's the obvious 'we have to kill monsters' plot, but there is also a very serious moral argument floating about, too, that is very fascinating. All the female characters are attractive and there is a tiny bit of fanservice here and there, but it isn't distracting or cheap. The girls aren't brainless and actually (ironically, considering they're zombies) are the most human of the cast.

Summary: Being a huge fan of horror-themed anime, I took a huge chance on this title and so far, it hasn't disappointed. The monsters look cool, the characters, even the undead ones, are understandable, you don't need a map to understand what's going on, and it's addicting. If nothing else, the world needs more girls in sailor uniforms carrying submachine guns. And at least this time, they're older than fourteen, so it's a lot more amusing.

If you're like me and you love horror, action, and philosophy, definitely buy this set. We won't be seeing anything of this quality until High School of the Dead, eventually, comes out.
