A not so perfect collection once again, failed advertisement and such as ruined yet another TEnchi release; there are several Ryo Ohki collections floating around from funimation and other companies, they are all branded as perfect and complete collections yet they only contain the last 1/3 of the series; before release or advertising it as complete collection Funimation should do what it can to get the rights from Pioneer or Geneon or whoever holds the rights to the rest of the series or advertise it as Ryo Ohki 3, so fans dun get suckered into buying an incomplete product again Justin overall the episode quality is the same, and special features are new from previous release Nicholas P. For all of those people out there who loved the first two seasons of the original Tenchi Muyo OAV series and always wanted them to make a third, well unfortunately you got this instead. Tenchi Muyo Ryo Ohki is supposed to the third season of the original OAV but frankly the show is terrible, setting aside the fact the art style dos not fit with the original OAV or the fact that no one from the original OAV was involved in the making of this series (at least to my knowledge), the story revolves mostly around new charters never seen before in the original OAV, and it barely features Ryoko, Ayeka, Sasami or for that matter Ryo-ohki (her names in the freaking title for Christ's sake) there mostly relegated to background Charters in this series, and to top it off it has lame sappy lets all be friend kind of ending that just make you want to barf. In short I recommend that you do not buy this series unless a super OCD fan of Tenchi and have to have everything Tenchi even then I wouldn't recommend pay more than ten bucks for it. |
