Mospeada, Genesis Climber DVD Box Set (S)
Tyas Palar - Jul 22 2009 Rating: Pretty good! A classic gem hidden in the past, a delight for everyone who loves mecha. Imagine these famous, some legendary, anime creators working together: Aramaki Shinji, Amano Yoshitaka, Yamada Katsuhisa, Hisaishi Joe, and some others? Today, this will become a kind of superteam. More than 20 years ago, they were working of a then low-rated anime (as in ratings: the number of viewers every time the series is aired). They made a remarkable series to remember, to be heightened to a cult status in the long run, eventhough it was not really popular when it came out the first time in Japan. I encountered MOSPEADA for the first time when it's in the disguise of the 3rd season of the famous franchise ROBOTECH. I had enjoyed the ROBOTECH version, but as I grew up, I longed for the original series. I was so glad to find that Rightstuf had it: the full episodes of MOSPEADA, with subtitles, with bonuses, with a booklet full of interviews with the creators! There are flaws, there are naivety, there are things that make us go 'huh?', but MOSPEADA is a truly amazing series to watch. I really love how the relationship between the characters grow; and how they change during the course of their journey to the Reflex Point. |
