Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. I have the tape version of this film, and am planning to purchase the DVD version. Everytime I watch this movie, I discover something new and kick-butt. A Joseph Campbell-ish hero (ahem...), intriguing plot, and art of killer scale makes for an epic destined to be a classic. Although I have to warn the ladies in our audience that the short rape sequences may be distasteful (I guess I can't elaborate because I am male). Nevertheless, worth seeing if you a fan of action, magic, a hero fighting sub-bosses then a boss (like a video-game), Demon City Shinjuku (same people), or anything that is COOL. Ninja Scroll is one of those type of animes that after you're don seeing it you just want to go back and see it again and again! It is that good! The whole movie is a work of art. This is a movie that should be seen by any anime fan or just anyone who loves to see alot of violence and gore. I have never seen such an excellent movie since Akira. Don't delay buy right away! First the dub is very very bad so if you buy VHS (why would you) only get the sub version. Coplaint number two: c'mon Manga,,,were the Hell is the widescreen!!!! Other than that a absolute classic. Stay away from Ninja Resurection however. Its marketed as the sequel to this ans has NOTHING to do with Ninja Scroll. Dont believe the hype animefreak2018 - Mar 24 2001 animefreak2018@hotmail.com Rating: Wonderful! A truly amazing movie Ninja Scroll is a truly breathtaking movie. The animation is superb for when it was made, the dubbing is fantastic, not to mention the detailed sound effects which really bring it alive. If I had to pick a movie to compare it in terms of dubbing, sound effects, animation, and story, I would have to pick Macross Plus. Not to mention the main bad guy in Ninja Scroll is the same dubbed voice of Guld in Macross Plus. This movie might not be for everyone though. There is a bit of nudity and sex, but DEFINATELY not overly excessive. Same thing with blood as well. But after the first 15 minutes, there is only some nudity, mild blood, and no sex at all. So if you went to watch this and were offended in the first 15 minutes, don't turn it off! Just keep watching. All in all it is a fantastic movie which should be seen by any hardcore otaku, if there are any who haven't seen it already. Shingetta - Jul 10 2001 corgreen@coqui.net Rating: Wonderful! Another decoration of monotony BUT... Same old, same old, BUT WHO IM TRYING TO FOOL???? IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS THE SAME OLD HEROIC NINJA FIGHTING, THE GOOD GUY ALWAYS WINNIG, HIDDEN COMEDY AND AND ALL HAVE TO END IN VENGANCE!!!!!!!! This movie is 90% great, I don't know why people are saying that the animation rock's because is all the same camera moving, if you want to see 100% animation buy X 1999. I alraeady heard the two languages and any of them were SPECTACULAR because the Japanese track could express MORE fellings but the voices were AMAZING, the English track was pretty good but Jubei's voice could be better. Ninja Scroll was one of the first anime films I've seen that I acually gave a good review about. It's not often I give good reviews, so definetly watch Ninja Scroll at least once. Varacose M. Vein - Feb 16 2002 Japo70@hotmail.com Rating: Wonderful! A very good movie (Not the best though) I realized i finally had to write a review of this movie when i mentioned it in another review. It is a must have for any good collection! Maybe not the best anime there is, but truly something to be witnessed! Great animation, unforgettable charachters, amazing battles and an interesting plot. The only thing that could be improved on would have to be the musical score. Hmmmm, it's a bit old now- but hey, it's a classic! Thanks for readin! Jason Wagner - Apr 6 2003 animaster887@aol.com Rating: Pretty good! Not as good as everybody else says Don't get me wrong, this is a good movie, but just not as good as everybody else says. All of the character designs are good. The fight seens are good too (I'm still not sure why blind people are always so strong in anime though...) The music is good, so is the animation. The animation isn't that great though, Patlabor 2 had alot better animation. The only thing I don't like is that there is too much nudity, they go into a little bit too much detail.... |
