Romeo x Juliet DVD Complete Series (Hyb)
K. M. Ta - Sep 3 2010
This anime is a work of art in every sense of the word. The music is exceptional, and that is really saying something. Voice acting in both languages top notch, but I still preferred the Japanese just a tad over the English. Destined to become a classic.
The interviews with the director, producer, and composer were really worth watching. I think the level of integrity in the production of this anime was very high.
Great characters, gorgeous artwork/backgrounds, a bit of comedy but mostly drama, great writing with a slight twist at the end (much credit due and given to Shakespeare), this anime engaged me from start to finish.
Thanks for reading mho.

Japanese Animation does it again!!!
WOW, what a great job they did with this Literary Masterpiece, ..Everyone knows that Romeo & Juliet has been done to death, but leave it to Japanese Anime to bring it back to life and put there own spin on it, and to good effect.
Also thanks to the people at Funimation for ensuring that the Shakespearean Language of Romeo & Juliet, and of the period language in general was used whenever possible. If you listen to the Japanese language version and watch the English dub. You lose all sense That you’re watching William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.
The Language of Shakespeare , may seem like a foreign language to us but it’s still English. Shakespeare however must not translate very well into Japanese because the language is lost in the English subtitling of the Japanese Dub. You lose the whole Shakespearean vibe & verse. As an example you lose “Romeo oh Romeo, where forth art thou Romeo” and other phrases like that. Don’t get me wrong, the first word of my review was “WOW”. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying….
