Sweeet Violence and other content definately puts this in the same category as "Ogre Slayer" and "Ninja Scroll." I loved this movie. Complete let down Being a huge anime fan, I was excited to see this DVD after just watching Ninja Scroll. First off: don't even try to compare the two. This movie has the same break-neck speed as watching grass grow. You have to sit through 90% of the film trying to make sense of horrible dialogue that someone wrote ass-backwards, just to see some truely remarkable fight scenes lasting mere seconds. Then, to make matters worse, the second episode tries to explain the first, and follow a cohert storyline, only to have the whole series end the minute it begins to get interesting!!! I couldn't believe it. I was left just standing there saying "That's it?????" The writers of this film should be dragged out into the street and shot. If you want an excellent story, go somewhere else. If you're looking for exciting, violent, well animated fight scenes, save your money, they're too far and few between. It not worth the pain of sitting through this DVD again. I'm gonna go watch Ninja Scroll now, and try really hard to forget I actually paid money for this horrible DVD called Ninja Resurection. This anime is NOT a must buy, is not because it has nothing to do with Ninja Scroll, is because of this: COMPLICATED STORYLINE, INCOMPLETE, POOR CHARACTER DESING, KETCHUP BLOOD, TO MUCH TALK AND THE WORSE OF ALL: JUBEI SAID A STUPID JOKE WITH A FUNNY FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But im sure the one i do own is exactly the same. just letting you know) What I enjoy most about anime is the action, violence, hentai, and a steady story line. Ninja Ressurrection had great scenes of violence, blood, and gore and anti christian action. Being the sequel to Ninja Scroll this movie's story line didnt relate much to Scroll but had more of its own. It was the ending of the movie that dissapointed me other wise I would have rated this as Wonderful! Ressurrection was going along great with the action and its story line was pretty steady but in the 2nd part (Hells Spawn) while the movie was getting really really interesting a few men (forces of hell) jump into the air after slaughtering many many people and it just... ends. I heard that the real ending to this movie was never released in the U.S. because people didnt like it. If that is true i would rather have that ending then a few men jumping into the air (if you could even call that an ending) but any way Ninja Ressurrection was a great movie that me and my freinds enjoyed watching and if you intend to buy it anywhere just remember it doesnt have much of an ending. Maybe because I was looking for similarities to the orignal Ninja Scroll Movie<which was awesome btw>. I didnt grasp the storyline for this Ninja Scroll series. This movie was a bit to dark for may taste and as well as the animation. If you are looking for a similarities to the orignal ninja scroll this is not it :( Chris J. I am not biased because I haven't seen Ninja Scroll yet, so I wasn't disappointed. Those who have reviewed this title who have seen Ninja Scroll seem to hate it, but it really isn't all that bad. The story is of Yagyu Jubei, the son of a famous sword master. This anime was interesting because real people and real events took place. One could call it historical fiction. Other historical figures include the legendary Miyamoto Musashi and Inshun Hozoin. This fact alone should tell you that this anime isn't the worst out there. I may be biased about this because I am a martial artist and already had an interest in these people. There are some anti-Christian themes here but the events involving Christians being persecuted really happened when the Tokugawa Shogunate began to inforce its anti-Christian laws. This title is extremely gory to the point of it being gratuitous. Skulls are cut in two, limbs severed from their bodies, mass murder in minimal time. The action, though it was a gore-fest, was shown amazingly and you can appreciate why Yagyu Jubei was a master of his art. There are mature situations in this title regarding abuse to women, but I feel that this only fueled the plot and it was no worse than any other title with sexual situations (Nowhere near Wicked City for example). The major gripe that everyone has with this title (including me) is that it abruptly ends. That's right, the story was never completed and the credits role conveniently right before the climax of the entire story. All of the great warriors are gathering for the biggest brawl of them all... Then fade to black. I wasn't pleased with this at all. In the end: IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOME GOOD HISTORICAL FICTION ANIME WITH SOME NICE NINJA ACTION PICK THIS ONE UP. If you have already seen Ninja Scroll you probably want to avoid this like the plague; you'll probably hate it. jonathan marquez - Aug 11 2004 Rating: This sucked! let-down I watched ninja scroll and loved it. So I was really excited when Ninja Ressurection came out but ended up hating it. If you seen Ninja Scroll, avoid this title. I mean dont even think about it, heh. The main character is the same person in both N.S. & N.R., but they're so different I was a bit shocked. Plus this one didnt have near as much action. Shawn DaSilva - Dec 7 2004 Rating: Not all that good. not the same jubei In ninja scroll his name is jubei kupagama (I believe) and in ninja res. it is jubei yagyu. I was also disappointed by this title. If you want some sword action pick up, the Samurai X ovas (rurouni kenshin), not the tv series however, that is far more superhuman. The ova is great, I advise the 2 disc format, the director's cut is more of a rip off (read the reviews). jacob d. I was hoping for a big fight in the end. I bought it thinking that it would be a full lenght movie, but it turned out to be two episodes with a hell of a lot of credits in between. |
