Absolutely Hilarious - a MUST SEE !
If you come home from a hard day at work and you need to see someone who has had a worst day than you - then pop thing Anime in your DVD player.

If you've seen my reviews I don't give many anime a rating of Wonderful but this one I do.

At first you might think this is another Harry Potter rip off but it is NOT. It is a fairly original story which is nice since we keep getting the same old story being done over and over in Anime these days.

This takes place on another planet/dimension and it looks like earth with a society from the Middle Ages based on a social structure of Nobles (those who have magical powers) and Commoners (those who don't have magical powers). The Nobles act like the world revolves around them and the commoners exist only to serve the Nobles.

The story takes place at a magical school/college. Our main character is a female student Zero Louise as she is called (the Zero because she can never do magic spells right). The day has come for the students to call a Familiar (which is a helper/partner like Harry Potter has an owl but this helper/partner has low level magical powers ..as an example one of the students gets a dragon, another gets a frog, one gets a floating eyeball, but they all have some degree of magical powers to assist their master).

It’s Louise’s turn to call up her Familiar (and of course her magic never works right) so everyone can’t wait to see what gets called up. When the smoke clears she has called up a Human (better known as a commoner) enter our lead man Satio. The last thing Saito remembers is that he was walking to school on Earth. He can’t even understand the language these people are speaking.

Now understand that Louise was suppose to call up a helper with magical powers but instead she calls up a human (not only no magical powers but socially at the bottom of the food chain) once again showing what a “ZERO” Louise is at magic. She is now stuck with Saito for the rest of her life too (no returns and try again) and treats him like a dog.

Also you will notice that Louise is a stuck up little spoiled brat….but as time and things occur she starts to have feeling for Satio but because she has never been in love before and the feelings she is having is for a commoner (lowest class in social structure) she won’t listen to her heart and keeps beating Satio up with words and a whip because he looks at other girls in the school.

But as you will see fate has a special reason to team these two up! I don’t want to spoil it for you so I will stop here. There is LOTS of action here and some fan service, and once again this is a must see.

And if you like the first season there is a second season where we get to meet Louise’s two older sisters and her parents – that’s when you realize why Louise is so messed up personality wise. The second season is funny but also a little more serious and it’s once again a MUST SEE.

Continuing my review from above !!
I forgot to add in my review above that in my opinion I recommend you watch this in Japanese with English Subtitles because the Japanese Voice Actors capture that snooty upper class attitude of the Nobles (who make up 2/3 of the cast of characters). For some reason the English Voice Actors make no attempt to sound like snooty upper class nobles (not their fault of course since it is the English Director here in the U.S. who decided it would be that way) and PLUS the English Subtitles are big and easy to read for a change.

Oh yes, not only is there a second season to this series but I just finished watching the THIRD season and they left it wide open for a fourth season. If you like season one then you will really like the next two seasons worth.

Got me Hooked and I don't even like romantic comedy!
The first reviewer said it all and the 2nd reviewer seconded it and now I thirding it. (is that even a word?) None the less this anime was so good it got me watching the 2nd season.(which isn't licensed yet though)Again I say I usually prefer action and drama anime. Something that makes you think or has plenty of fights and action. While this series does have a small amount of these things, the comedy is really where it shines and the characters are always fun and enjoyable to watch. And when the series isnt making you laugh it has you intrigued in the world and society in which they inhabit. I even got a warm fuzzy feel from Louise and Saito's growing relationship.

Long story short buy it! I did and I really really liked it. Be sure to check out season 2 and 3 too. Season 2 made me LOVE this franchise. Hopefully seasons 2 & 3 will be licensed eventually...god I hope so!
