Nighthead Genesis DVD 1 (S)

Enough Plot Holes to Sink A Fleet
This series is going to do a lot in order to make you want to stop watching but it’s really up to you on if you let it or not. It’s really just a matter of perspective; you can either sit down and view this as a bishie drama that does such a terrible job at telling its story that you’re desperate for a reason to hit stop or you see it as a bishie drama that is filled with so many plot holes that you can’t help but laugh and be entertained. This is not a great example of a bishie drama but for the right audience, it could be entertaining. The rest of us will be busy finding something else.
Darker Than Black DVD 1 (Hyb)

Rating: Wonderful!
Straight forward review
I got the nifty invitation to purchase Darker Than Black. The holidays were coming up so I thought; 'why not take a chance & get something I know nothing about'. I got the Volume 1 DVD with out the artbox & just watched the first 2x episodes. Usually when I formulate an opinion about a show it's based off the icebreakers (first few episodes). Needless to say, I'm happy with my purchase & even making a review.

Based on what I've seen so far things are interesting, to say the least. The show looks fantastic when it comes to the character design and art direction. The genre could possibly be considered science fiction fantasy, mystery, suspense & action. I've not noticed any 'fan service' yet but the over all design as previously mentioned is amazing enough.

If you're interested in something new but don't want to be disappointed then I would suggested purchasing Darker Than Black. The episodes appear to come in sets of 2x parts so I'm eagerly awaiting Volume 2 and potentially more.

Guyver DVD Box Set (Hyb)
Douglas J. Glassman - Nov 26 2008 doug.glassman@gmail.com
Rating: Wonderful!
One of the best recent series
Most Western viewers will recognize the Guyver from the two less-than-spectacular live action movies from the early 90s. The franchise has also been turned into an OVA and a shorter anime. But the 21st century Guyver anime tops them all. Unlike the other adaptations (and anime adaptations in general), this is amazingly close to the orignal manga. The changes are minor, and most were approved by the mangaka, Yoshiki Takaya, who was a consultant on the project. If you've read the manga, you know what to expect and you're in for a treat. If you haven't, you're in for a wild ride.

In short, Sho Fukamachi becomes the high-powered superhero called the Guyver by accident. He's forced into combat with Cronos and its Zoanoid mutants. I don't want to give anything else away. The "ultra-violence" tag that the series has been saddled with is true--there's a lot of blood and gore, though most of it is nonhuman. However, it's not to the level of "Fist of the North Star" and it's not the series' selling point.

This collection contains some nice extras, including audio commentaries with the dub actors and personnel. The neatest extras are the manga-to-anime side-by-side comparisons so that you can see just how closely Takaya's work was adapted. Unfortunately, this collection is missing the booklets that came with the individual releases from ADV releases. These contained character guides, interviews and test artwork. However, this is a minor flaw in an excellent set. This is a great series for a superhero fan who wants to transition into anime. That's how it worked for me.

Very highly recommended.
Emma: A Victorian Romance Season 2 DVD Collection (S)

A must for any fan of romantic stories
This is a great romantic story. The first season was very good, but the second season has so many plot twists that it is too good not to pass up. It is like chocolate. I cannot get enough of it!
Ranma 1/2: Season 1 DVD Box Set (Hyb): The Digital Dojo

Classic Anime Comedy
Ranma 1/2 is truly one of the great anime comedies that stands the test of time. I recently started watching Season 1 again and I have to say that this series has aged really well. Ranma and Akane are great leads. It's fun to watch their love/hate relationship. Overall, a great start to the series introducing the cast of p-chan/Ryoga, Shampooo/Moose and many others. If you love comedies like School Rumble, you'll love watching Ranma 1/2.
Devil May Cry DVD 1 (Hyb): Level 1

High Production, Fast paced action
I've been a fan of the Devil May Cry video games since their incarnation on the PS2. Needless to say, I was excited to hear Dante was coming to the anime screen. Dante isn't nearly as cocky as he is in the video games but I'm glad they went this route because the English dub performance from Justin Cause turned out excellent. A plus is the quality of the animation which is pretty top notch. A great watch for fans of the game.
Case Closed Movie Double Feature DVD (Hyb) (Skyscraper/Target)

Rating: Wonderful!
Excellent! Action-packed and suspenseful.
I really enjoyed both of these movies. The first one, The Timed Bomb Skyscraper was so suspenseful at the end I was on the edge of my seat even though the outcome was kinda obvious it was still fascinating to watch. The second movie I also really loved because it was like an interesting fast-paced puzzle. I love Conan and Rachel and really want to know when the third movie is going to be dubbed because I can't stand their japanese voices.
Slayers Season 2 DVD Set (Hyb) Uncut (Slayers Next)

What can I say-either you like Lina Inverse pr you don't-I DO!!
Of the 3 seasons this is probally the weakest-but it's still way better than most of the other medival themed fantasy series out there.
