Ai Yori Aoshi DVD 1 (Hyb): Faithfully Yours
Bluer than Indigo - Jan 13 2003 WWW.somewhere.com Rating: Wonderful! A slightly comic shojo romantic series. This is another of my favorite series. As you might have guessed the title translated means Bluer than Indigo. Aoi{the starring character) comes to Tokyo in a kimino. At the subway station she repeatdly asks people where an address she has is and what train to take to get there but everybody either ignores her or is rude. Along comes a young man who takes pity on her and takes her to the address onlyu to find out it's a vacant lot. It starts raining so he takes her to his apartment. Upon questioning her he finds out she came to Tokyo to marry her childhood friend. Guess what? The person in question turnes out to be him. Anyway, this is a very enjoyable series. Translated, the title means "Bluer than Indigo". This a wonderful lighthearted love story about a girl,Aoi, who arrives in the Tokyo subway looking for a boy she knew in her hometown. She has decided she is going to marry him-one problem-he does'nt know about it. The opening scene finds her in the subway station asking people if the y can tell her which train to ride. Almost everybody is rude or nasty to her. Thus begins a very enjoyable series that continues for 24 episodes. Having only seen the first 9 myself I am waiting for the next batch. The next big thing in romantic/comedy/drama anime THis is possibly the best anime yet in this genre, altho Kare Kano (His & Her Circumstances) is a BIG competitor. Here you have Kaour & Aoi overcoming adversity to make their love happen. I won't spoil anything, but this romance starts a little differently from the norm. The story has some similarities to Love Hina in the way the main characters met, but the main story is more like Tenchi Muyo. Now that I think of it, the setting would also be similar to Love Hina. Either way, the story is original and you will not be bored. Depending on the episode, it may be more dramatic than funny, or vice versa, but you will want to see more no matter what. A must see! I just finished watching the whole series on a HK version and if you liked Love Hina then you will enjoy this too. It's Love Hina only in reverse. Instead of the boy coming into stay at a hotel full of College Grils and then falling in love with one of them - In this story the College age Girl and boy meet fall in love and move into a big Mansion and slowly College girls stop by to rent rooms. Doesn't sound to bad but the Boy and Girl who first move in must keep their relationship a secret from the other Girls who still think it is open season on the boy. The characters in this anima are rich with personality. that you get caught up in there happyness and saddness The the leading lady in this animation is cute kind of clueless but not stupid by any means just sheltered. and there are many other cute girls also. But Aoi takes the cake. Even if you dont fall for her you will see she is the kind of person you would fight to keep as a friend for life. Anyway when the series ended. I felt like I had lost some friends. I was kind of down about it. and for awhile I started to forget about it. Then Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi came out it made me so happy. was alittle upset that it was kind of short but I was in heaven. I have watched these two series time and time again and it never gets old. if there is one anima you need to get it is this one. |
