Niea Under 7 DVD 1 (Hyb): Poor Girl Blues Reviews of this title:
Masamune Washington - Aug 30 2001 Rating: Pretty good! NieA under 7 is the good stuff you find under spacejunk. "...It's a funny thing to see, that moment when the extraordinary, becomes ordinary..." is the way Mayuko describes the times she lives in. Niea is fun. Mild comic violence, a story built on the eccentricities of living with aliens, and character development. No giant robots, energy or sword wielding 'heroes', demanding merchandising ploy or trapped conventions that crank out patterned episodes. The whole story is made compatible to tamed-down American rating standards (sort of a disappointment but it does not harm the story or visuals in the least). A fresh change from the boring refuse being force marketed today.
A must see is episode 3: ALIEN RADIO NOISE & BATH We get to meet a handful of aliens, they are... amusing.
If you like DragonBall, Pokémon, Sailor Moon or Gundam, do not watch this. If you like Ranma˝, Urusei Yatsura, Serial Experiments Lain, Patlabor, Nuku-Nuku, Geobreeders, Captain Tylor or Tenchi Muyo, you should like this. Dan Travers - Sep 4 2001 Rating: Wonderful! A hillarious breath of fresh air As the other reviewer said, this is not your stereotypical anime. Don't expect big battles or grand-scale story arcs. However, if you like new things in your anime you'll love NieA_7. The comedy is genuinely funny. It's like an antidepressant without the side-effects. By the way, check out the English dub, it's pretty darn good. |
