Givens - May 18 2005 southburning@webtv.net Rating: Wonderful! The best new anime I've seen in five years. Appleseed is the best new anime I've seen in five years. The plot, even though it is typical anime, has no flaws in its construction. The action is great! The animation is first rate. And the realism blew me away. (The listing of "motion actors" in the end credits gives a clue as to how this high degree of realism was achieved.) And the typical Japanese "sermon" on saving the world is done in a fashion that doesn't detract from the flow of the story. Appleseed will take its place beside Ghost in the Machine as one of the best animes of all time. If I had to pick five DVD'S to take with me on a long interplanetary voyage, Appleseed would be one of them. |
